Dkrol, I share some of your reservations, but you're becoming needlessly vicious. The last two questions above are particularly inappropriate: this is a nonpartisan office, not a patronage job. This kind of behavior is unbecoming of a senator and does no favors to your position.
I felt that they were necessary to examine the character of the "nominee".
Senator, I generally respect you, but I have to agree with Senator Truman here. None of us want an un- or under-qualified GM, but your behavior goes well beyond concern into outright hostility towards Enduro. He may not have your experience or struggled as you have, but he is enthusiastic and I'm willing to give him a shot. Besides, if he can't do the job, we'll impeach him.

ABSTAIN

I like Enduro, and admire his enthusiasm, but, to be honest, he is inexperienced. He has the potential to be great and we do need a GM, so I won't vote against him, but I would much rather see him build up some experience in the Northeast Assembly.

Aye

I see the concerns regarding Enduro's inexperience, but in his answers to the questions he's shown the skills and enthusiasm needed for this job. Smiley

AYE. I have my reservations, but given the nominee's willingness to learn and obvious ambition, I'm prepared to give him the benefit of the doubt.

Nay. A Vote for Enduro is a vote to kill Atlasia.

Senators JoMCaR and Truman already explained my thoughts:

Aye.
It's normal having some reservations. But I see the right enthusiasm for the job and I'm ready to give him confidence.

I understand the concerns of my northern colleages, but I have been willing to take risks with regards to the GM if it means potentially benefiting the game. Caution has restrained it from its potential and not without good reason for such (Sirnick etc). In this instance, Enduro's inexperience may allow him to be more free thinking and not as wetted to old way of doing business.

Now that I think about it, if possible I'd like to change my vote to an AYE.

I Abstain.

I've still got serious questions about the nominee, but I guess it would be wrong to say nay based on unsubstantiated problems. Plus, nobody has denied his activity levels, which IS a major plus.

On a personal level, I have seen this nominee espouse views which are abhorrent at worst and misguided at best.  I am loathe to support the installment of a game moderator who sees the world from the perspective of a hateful bible-basher, but I am also concerned that it is wrong to simply scare away a prospective nominee who promises to do a good job and remain active because of his backwards ideology.  Noting that this position must be strictly nonpolitical, I therefore cast a vote in favor of the nominee.
