I know we did a poll on this last October, but I want to see if the overall opinion has changed over the past couple of months.

Lean FF. Some of them are funny, while others try way too hard and aren't funny.

That's the worst thing I've ever heard said about the Simpsons.  Comparing the Simpsons to these clowns, come on man, that's just mean.

Given that Trump's entire campaign is a self parody, if you are an 'ironic' Trump supporter, then you actually are a Trump supporter.

Food for thought, that one.  Smiley

Absolutely despicable. If you want to support someone ironically, find a silly candidate like Graham/Carson like I did.

The phrase "check your privilege" comes to mind, and I say this with complete seriousness. I doubt that many of them would find Trump so hilarious if they were poor or non-white.

I am poor and non-white and still have a more favorable opinion of TRUMP than I do of the rest of the GOP field.

People need to stop assuming that we're all supporting him ironically.

Read my post carefully. I'm not counting out sincere support for Trump. Obviously, polling shows that poor and working-class whites are a large share of his supporters.

That said, I would not count on there being many sincere Trump supporters on this forum. Most are... well, I think you know as well as I what they are like.

While I'm sure a few of the supporters are ironic, I would suspect that a lot of the TRUMP supporters here are like me, independents sick of the status quo who want to see Washington get shaken up.  There's a certain joy I get out of watching TRUMP demolish a field of disgusting Republican candidates, from the establishment frauds to the fundie creeps.  I'm less of a fan of him going after immigrants, BLM, women, and while I'm not a huge fan of Islam obviously BAN ALL MUSLIMS is taking it a bit too far.  But let's be real, it's not like any of the other GOP candidates are any better than him on those issues, them and their supporters are just 10x more self-righteous and less self aware about it.

I'm not sure why irony and sincerity need to be mutually exclusive.

I've expressed my thoughts on them previously. Since I don't want to cause another uproar, I'll leave it there.

Am I missing something? Are there more than 5 or 6 of them? Because that's all I can think of unless most are just completely forgettable.

e: (And I think its fair to say most of that group authentically does prefer Trump to the rest of the GOP candidates)

Clash and you seem to be the only genuine Republicans, and I'm still not sure if I'm buying that you are going to vote for Trump.

Terribly annoying, but if this is the price we have to pay to see the GOP field demolished and the White House (and possibly Congress) handed to Democrats in November, then so be it Cheesy

Authentic!?

And the fact that my first vote will proudly be for Donald J. Trump is more an indictment of this country than myself.

I have admitted that I had my heart set on Christie for a few years until I truly believed Trump would run. Both are acceptable to me, but Trump is the better strategic vote against Marco and especially Cruz even I were considering Christie. There is little choice. He also stands a better chance in the general.

Bad, but I see the allure of him basically exploiting and sabotaging the Republican Party. It's dangerous of course, but kind of nice to see someone hold a mirror up.

Still, they're no worse than most Bernie supporters. These folks completely lack respect, are divorced from reality, and have engrained within them an image of Hillary Clinton that, when you get right down to it, is really based on nothing more than their visceral feelings/imaginations.

Ironic or non-Ironic Trump supporters have the most grounded and solid analysis of anyone on the 2016 board. Everyone else, after months of being wrong on everything, are still peddling the same bad conventionial wisdom.

By unironically supporting him you do support it just through that alone.
