Excellent! This should destroy Kasich's candidacy and Bernie's as well.

I'm very confused with the left's fascination with Kasich as some sort of savant on reason and moderation

This might actually help Kasich in NH, where he is relying on liberal Republicans and moderate independents to get him to 20% or so.

Good, does this mean we can stop hearing this nonsense about how the NYT is supposedly anti-Clinton?

The Times never actually endorsed Kasich, though. I read both of the articles and the one about Kasich, which was mildly positive, never used the word "endorsement".

Here's hoping for the WSJ.

NYT: "Kasich has gone after unions, fought to limit abortion rights and opposed same-sex, but we have to endorse someone, have mercy on us"!

He's to the left of Rubio without the baggage of Jeb.

Exactly. Kasich is quite conservative economics-wise. Going to a same-sex wedding does not make you a moderate.

Isn't the NYT endorsing in a Pub primary an act of political homicide of the endorsee?

I wouldn't exactly call them meaningless.

Kasich is already firmly on the Huntsman track anyway. This has very little to do with "moderation" (even the editorial board doesn't try to claim that he is a moderate) and everything to do with him lacking the necessary charisma for throwing out red meat convincingly. 20% in New Hampshire is really a best-case scenario for him.

That type of endorsement could have been a potitive for Rand, but nobody else.

Yeah but 20% in NH would assure him second place there, making him the establishment "winner."

Related point, and maybe sort of a weird one that everyone will ridicule. As I watch the debates from a left-ish perspective, the only candidate who I see even trying to repudiate some of the wackier things that are said on-stage isn't Kasich; it's Jeb Bush. He's not especially effective, obviously, but he's a lot more convincing and direct compared to Kasich's feckless tone policing.

They endorsed McCain in 2008, so there you are.

I'm not sure that it would guarantee him second place. And even if it did, I doubt that it would have much effect. He'd persist, win <10% in a few states, and withdraw a few weeks later, probably.
