The uncommitted vote went away too... wish they would do this with the O'Malley supporters.

So the inevitable candidate put 90% of her campaign into this? What a joke.

Bernie's speech makes it sound like he won. Tons of confidence.

Does this bode well for Hillary in November in Iowa?

It probably doesn't say that much one way or the other.

I think the takeaway is that, yes, Hillary probably has this, but there are clearly voters in the Democratic party that she has to win over (say what you will about her favorability ratings.) Mock "Sandernistas" at your own peril; if Hillary wins the nomination, she needs them to turn out for her to win a GE.

Not so much. Most of them weren't even eligible to vote during the last presidential cycle and Hillary has the Obama voter coalition that will win the day in the general election.

If 49.5% of Iowans voted for Bernie, that doesn't suggest that she has the Obama coalition in the bag. Plenty of 22-30 year-olds who supported Obama are for Bernie now. She CAN win these voters, but she can't take them for granted.

NYT is only showing 94.1% reporting, and Hillary only leads by 4 votes.
Bernie can still win it.

Black turnout will be down from 2012, and republicans will get about 10% of it (Romney got 6%.). If Rubio is the nominee (he performed about as well as he could expect tonight), he appears to have what it takes to woo at least some of the Hispanics who voted GWB/Obama/Obama back to the republican side. The question will be if the Republicans can match or exceed Romney's showing among Whites (GWB actually did worse than Romney there), and if this is the year where the white % of the vote will stop decreasing for the time being (it will happen eventually).

Well said. I take your point.

Funny how Sanders voters have gone from saying to how he was going to sweep Iowa, to now just shouting that the 'invetiable' Hillary has failed to get a landslide. The same folks who complained about a 'coronation' two years seem to be annoyed that Hillary has won the first Caucus

The fact that the media is trying to spill this as a win for Sanders is laughable (though very predictable). It's a virtual tie, but it's in one of Sanders' top 5 states demographically. It would be equivalent to Bernie tying Clinton in a Deep South state.

I'm pretty sure it was the Clintonistas that thought Hillary was inevitable. The Sanders supporters just said it would be close and then after got yelled at by the Hillary goons.

Why is it that Reps who hand wrote all votes were finished counting long before Dems who only did a head count?

I was wondering that myself. Maybe some of these last precincts had unexpected turnout?

If Obama wants to help Hillary he should get Bernie on stage and endorse Clinton.

In other news Bernie sounds like a back alley New York Thug from the 20s. Also sounds very angry, tries to be positive and just comes off angry.

She is absolutely inevitable. If you believe otherwise tell me which states Sanders has a chance to win on Super Tuesday and beyond. The answer is few, if any. Let me guess, you thought the NDP would beat the Liberals too?

I watched this live and found it odd. They only counted new people on their side and added it to their prior total. If 4 people switched then Bernie would have won 5-4, making him 2 votes closer.
