A flawed FF, on balance. Although I respect the desire to end the rebellion, I disagree with certain supressions of civil liberties within the Empire and think the construction of the Death Stars was not a fiscally conservative move.

Flip-flopper, so HP. He promised to restore democracy after the end of the Clone Wars, but over 20 years, and he still hasn't delivered.

He also promised to maintain a 1000 year empire at the end of the clone wars

I am sure that you all don't know but thesis that Empire were good guys in Star Wars was important issue during presidential elections in Poland last year. Jedi as some kind of KGB, Senate raising taxes, Jedi Council as authoritarian grey eminences, Luke Skywalker as Pavlik Morozov and more - Grzegorz Braun at his finest.
One of the best things of 2015. Unfortunately only in Polish so I will not post it here :/

Since he was secretly in charge of the first rebellion, and created a war, simply to gain power...

(but you have to give him his due on the sheer brilliance of the plan, adapting it, and its execution)

Worst Star Wars villain; despite the acting, he was just boring.

Might be the best-written and best-acted character of the prequel trilogy (OK, that's not saying very much but still, credit where it's due). Massive FF.

You want us to judge him as a religious/spiritual leader?

Well, I guess there is something to be said for the quest of UNLIIIIIIIIIIIMITED POWAAAAAAAAH as the fundamental goal of human existence and killing anyone who gets in the way, but personally it's way too Nietzschean for my taste.

Actually, Anakin being seduced by him is basically the equivalent of bratty teenagers being seduced by Ayn Rand.

FF. He's just like my hero, Ayn Rand.

(Just kidding, your analogy sucks.)

He seems like a nice guy, but he just needs to stop with the dictatorship and killing. Lean FF.

FF

My favorite character in the Star Wars universe (haven't seen The Force Awakens).

Hilarious Person

What else do you call a genocidal maniac who can sit on his butt for ten years making plans that revolve around a bunch of near impossible things happening, rule for twenty years...and squander it on petty taunts that only served to lose his chance at a new apprentice AND his life?

Also the acting is extremely meaty.
