I'm not understand the media hype about Trump being "humbled," "humiliated," and "losing sings of longevity."

*He never has run for or held office before and came in a solid 2nd place with 24% of the vote in IOWA despite not being Evangelical and not having a particularly deep record on social issues.

*He won counties in various parts of Iowa and held strong in counties that went more favorably for other candidates

*His campaign is beginning to receive some semblance of legitimate support that matters in the GOP primary: Sarah Palin, Jerry Falwell Jr, Scott Brown, Lt. Gov. McMaster, etc.

Why exactly have we already accepted his demise?

Because all the polls and Trump's own mouth claimed Trump was going to win Iowa, and he lost, almost coming in third.  It's all about how a candidate does relative to expectations.  And Trump lost the expectations game big time.

He was expected to win. He lost, and was very nearly beat out for second by someone who was not expected to perform as well as he did. However, saying that he's imploding is a knee-jerk reaction.
