Why is this surprising?  Santorum, like most non-autistic people, realizes how much of a sociopathic creep Cruz is.  So naturally he's going to support the other viable theocratic Cuban fascist still in the race.

I don't think that Cruz supporters are necessarily stupid, but I really question how a neurotypical person can think that that man is genuine, honest, principled, or somehow less than totally sociopathic.

It's really kind of unremarkable.  Santorum's going nowhere, and he'd probably like to get back into the game as at lease a Cabinet Secretary.  Rubio's the only Republican with a chance that would have him.  Good career move for Rick.
