Rubio is bland, represents a swing state, and is part of a demographic that has yet to hold the presidency. The fact that his views are just marginally different from his opponents doesn't matter so much as his persona. He has a boring business-like persona that reassures blue-bloods. And he's now going to contest the haven of blue-blooded Republicans-New Hampshire.
His best polling states are in the Midwest though, not places with blue bloods. The blue bloods are in the Kasich camp still.
True, but I think that will change quickly if he makes a strong showing in New Hampshire.
