Truth be told, I actually agree with him. Women should still be folded into the process, but as someone who went to university in a town that also hosted Canada's Royal Military College, I can say that most of the young recruits were exceptionally uncritical and aggressive people who were eager to go to war and blow things up. They stood united against anti-rape campaigns and wanted to start men's rights clubs.

I'm not a fan of the the type of people who generally go into the military. Sue me.

Still, I'm glad that Cruz seems to have said it out loud and shot himself in the foot.

I agree. Cruz could have worded it better, but he's right.

220 pounds sounds arbitrary until you realize that's what you get when you convert 100 kilograms. Did Ted Cruz just expose himself as a metricist like Lincoln Chafee? If so then yes, he's done.
He is still a Canadian at heart, it seems.

So Lief needs the headline changed, but no infraction.
I'm confused as to why you still talk about infraction (not only in this case). These points don't exist anymore, do they?

There are no points, but posts can be infracted. That has no meaning, unless a poster is up for review for possible punishment, and then one can access the infracted posts for review. Other than this sorting function, to use in this one context, infractions have no function anymore.

It's not false that the military or the police attract many psychopaths.

Who cares if he was talking about enemies? The man has twisted and distorted the words and actions of countless others for personal gain so he deserves whatever unfounded backlash he gets from this poorly worded response. Karma Smiley

Besides, I personally find the comment problematic either way.

*lie*
Ted Cruz should die for what he did.
*find out it was a lie*
Well he should die anyway because in general he's a bad person

Hey, at least it "started a conversation", right?

Oh never mind, this is a false alarm. Cruz was referring to the enemy as psychopaths, not American troops in the foxhole with his daughter.

"“But the idea that their government would forcibly put them in a foxhole with a 220-pound psychopath trying to kill them doesn’t make any sense at all,” he said.

Does Ted Cruz know what a foxhole is? Because that's not how it works.

That makes more sense.

The headline needs to be changed. I am going to report this.

Torie,

If that is the exact quote, then I think Cruz is saying that the American (female) soldier is in the foxhole, and that the "psychopath" enemy is on the battlefield, but not in the fox hole with our soldier.

Not my board. I did report it for the moderators of this board to consider however. As to boards I don't moderate, I am merely a lowly powerless poster as it were. I have no more standing than anybody else.
