West Virginia. That's a risky call since it doesn't vote until May, but its a perfect demographic fit for the Trump voter. Poorer, less educated, apathetic voters, many of whom gave up on voting and were former conservative Democrats looking for a populist message. Not to mention its less religious than other southern states, making it less likely to be Cruz territory. What's your guess?

If Trump doesn't win the nomination: New Hampshire.

If Trump does win the nomination, or gets very close: West Virginia.

New Jersey seems tailor-made for Trump as long as Christie is out of the race by then.

That's not a bad bet, but maybe for not the reason you're thinking. It's one of the last states to vote in June, and usually the nominee is presumptive by that point, so that person usually wins in landslides in the last few states.

If he holds on until April, it will be his home-state.
