Interesting, Tad Devine from Bernie's campaign said they are going to start TV spending in CO, MN, MA and OK. So with VT, they are shooting to win 5 of 11 Super Tuesday states, and that is best case scenario.

Makes a lot of sense, actually. Those are the ones I would target if I were him.

Foolish. Overtime told me Alabama and Arkansas will be competitive. He should invest lots of money there. Wink

Not surprising list of states, except Oklahoma. Their polling must show at least a narrow window of opportunity there.

Eh, it's a lot whiter than most of the other Super Tuesday states, and even though its voters aren't particularly liberal, they are expressly anti-establishment (as shown by the strong anti-Obama vote in the 2012 Democratic primaries), which will surely work to Sanders' advantage.

I'd target TN instead of OK; I'm pretty sure TN is whiter.

I think their list makes sense, but if it were me, I'd add at least one southern state just to have a test case.  Of course he can't win in the south if he doesn't try to.

Tennessee is the whitest southern state voting on Super Tuesday. Putting a dent in Hillary's southern firewall would be the best outcome possible for Sanders.

The Democratic electorate of Tennessee is definitely less white than Oklahoma's. Remember, Tennessee has Memphis and Nashville. In 08, Tennessee's Dem primary was 29% black, whereas Oklahoma's was 7%.

OK is a bit of a stretch but the others make a lot of sense.

If I were Sanders, I'd not bother with Oklahoma and focus on getting better showings in Virginia, Texas, and Georgia. They're unwinnable ofc, but coming within 20 could strength with minorities and rake up a lot more delegates.

Oh man, Bernie.  Don't concede Texas.  That's a bad idea.  Bernie has decent appeal among Hispanics and those white voters are as anti-establishment as the Okies.

I don't think their votes against Obama had anything to do with being anti-establishment.

Virginia should be on that list as well. Sanders has potential in Appalachia.

No surprises there, those are pretty much the whitest states there are. At this point his only path to the nomination is to run as an anti-Obama and win white votes that Obama would never get.

Oklahoma Democrats are the most conservative Democrats in the country.  I doubt they're fans of Hillary, but do you really think they're going to bite on the Vermont socialist?  Webb probably gets like 20% as a protest vote.

If I were him I'd try for Virginia.  Its the least 'southern' of the Southern states on Super Tuesday.  There are quite a few white Democrats in NoVa.

That was a Dixiecrat protest, not an "anti-establishment" one.

Sanders will win whites in every southern state. The era of Dixiecrats is over.

Sanders will never get any traction in OK outside of Norman and a scattering of OKC/Tulsa areas.

Though I wouldn't be surprised if he outplaced Obama 08 for obvious reasons.

Hate to break it to you, but not every white Democrat is a Latte lib.

Depends on what other races are going on.

The people voting against Obama in Arkansas and Oklahoma primaries in 2012 weren't disgruntled Democrats, they were Republicans voting in the Democratic primary because their local sheriff and city council races are still Democratic-only.

Notice how even as late as 2015, Mississippi's Democratic Primary gets more votes than Mississippi's Republican Primary when the local races are on the ballot.

A lack of Latte libs might be good for Sanders.
In NH Sanders landslided among those without college degrees. Clinton was only 1 point behind among those "latte lib" postgrads.
