...how does the establishment react? Do they rally around Kasich? Bush? Rubio? Or do they get in line behind Donald? Discuss.

This result is yucky for the establishment. If it ends up how it is right now, then Kasich comes in second but doesn't finish impressive enough to get the establishment behind him. Jeb probably thinks he has a chance now and Rubio will stay in until at least South Carolina.

The only good thing I see coming out of this is Christie will certainly drop out.

Christie is not going anywhere.

Kasich

Bush, Rubio, and Christie have already imploded. Kasich is the only establishment candidate that hasn't completely imploded, especially if he comes second. Trump (or Cruz) will probably win the primaries. I'd give up if I were part of the GOP establishment. This is Trump's party now.

Which is great for the Democrats this cycle. It will be too easy to dominate Trump in the GE.

As far as I can see, this is going to be a 3 way race between Kasich, Trump, and Cruz.

Unless Sanders is the nominee. We all know he's unelectable on a national level.

Dude, we should be afraid of TRUMP. He will make New York, Pennsylvania and Michigan competitive! #ReaganRedux #WorkingClassWhites

It's hard to tell what the establishment will do. These results take Kasich and (maybe) Bush off of life support, but they're going to have a rough time in the next few states and Super Tuesday.

Remember when we were saying "If Bush, Walker, and Rubio implode, the establishment will rally around Kasich"?

Yeah.

Yeah.

Wow I hadn't even thought of that. I guess it just goes to show the pointlessness of making predictions too early.

In last 12 presidential cycles - meaning since 1968 - eventual GOP nominee won either Iowa or New Hampshire. (or both). - John King
