Help with finding a word

I'm looking for a single word that expresses or at least alludes to the idea that an honor is a burden.  I don't even know if English has a single word to express this concept, but even if it's an archaic or seldom-used technical term, I'd really appreciate it as it would help out with a translation I'm working on.

Does this have to do with the eighth chapter of St. Mark?  is it ἐπιτιμάω that you're trying to translate?

I have a greek colleague I always go to when I need a greek-english translation, although sometimes she gives me the short answer.  I could ask her if it will help.

Right idea, but wrong testament.  From Hosea 9:11 I'm seeking to translate "כָּבוֹד" (kabōd) which is usually rendered as 'glory' but the sense of 'glory' is derived from a more basic sense of 'weighty' and understand the context of that passage would in my opinion be enhanced if that other sense were present in translation.

tough call.  I don't know Hebrew.  I just googled Kabod and got the essence of both.  I'd go with "burden" if I had to choose.  It'll wake people up.  (Reading Deuteronomy 9:11 with "burden" actually doesn't lose anything.  Try stuck:  "After 40 days, the lord stuck me with two stone tablets..."  People know what "stuck" means in that sense.  You can also try "charged" or "entrusted."  Even try "he gave me the job of...")  That really hot porn actress that hooked up with Gene Scott could help you with this.  She's wicked smart.  Ever watch her show?  Of course you have.  This would give you an excuse to contact her.  She's Greek, I think, but she reads Hebrew well.
