Honestly, it's not that I don't want it because "MURICA". I don't want it because that's exactly how a dictatorship will start, and it won't be easy to get out of.

Why would you think that?

Some countries have better protections against dictatorship/ more individual rights to protect against dictatorship. Global government almost assuredly would involve compromises in structure as opposed to every other country leveling up to the maximum protections. Why should countries with more freedom give it up for the burdens of a global government? Especially one based an ocean away.
