Of these options, tie between Goldilocks the Warmonger and Sunburn-ambivalent And ElectionsGuy.

Also, who's gonna do the inevitable "favorite Communitarians-or-whatever-you-label-those-people-with- '- economic, + social scores'" thread?
Who is Sunburn ambivalent? Me? If it is so, I'm making that my new username.

If you want to be, sure...I was referring to the Washingtonian who dislikes cold and cloudy climates, but if that floats your boat, then go ahead.

I like myself a lot, but my real answer is Haslam, and Leined.

Leinad. I'm actually amazed by how polite, articulate and reasoned his posts are - not only for a Libertarian, but in general. He's one of our best newbies by far.

Lots of good options, although it's certainly setting off my (very pedantic) "Libertarian Orthodoxy Radar."

And thanks to those who say nice things about me. (That was an awkward sentence, but I'm terrible at receiving compliments--compliments are to Leinad what debates are to Rick Perry.)

Write-in votes (i.e. guys that LibertarianRepublican missed but definitely deserve honorable mentions): sparkey (L-CA, probably our MVP as far as Libertarian Party news), and PiT (another -CA, and a prominent member of Atlasia for many years).

I'd be more than happy with tied-3rd. I can safely say that Ted and Sanchez are better posters than I am, even if my Libertarian Orthodoxy Radar disagrees.

No. I am not in any single way a better poster than you. Let's dispel that fiction right now.

To answer the question, Goldwater is by far the best user of all the options on the poll, but he's not a libertarian, so I didn't vote for him.

I voted for ElectionsGuy. Ted Bessell is also great.

Chairman Sanchez and especially Goldwater are not libertarians. Sanchez is a paleoconservative and Goldwater is a neoconservative (neoconservatives are by definition socially liberal). That's like calling Dick Cheney a libertarian.

Oh my God...

If we want to go by the academic definition of neoconservatism, then I guess yes, they might be socially liberal. That said, the stereotypical "neoconservative" is some Jewish ex-liberal who still opposes drug legalization and isn't too turned off by a welfare state. Goldwater hardly applies. While I'd think he could be loosely characterized as a neoconservative, he's far too economically and socially liberal (in the actual sense of the word--"free") to count as a standard neocon.

Kind of sucks that there are no real "forum vet" libertarians, Dibble for example, who made coherent arguments. I guess that's what we get with the death of the ideology.

Fair argument.

He might not be a neoconservative, but he's certainly not a libertarian.

I just want to point out that it feels kind of strange to see people arguing about what my political views are on a thread that I didn't even know about until just now. Tongue

Anyway, yeah, I don't what the hell my views are considered, but the U.S. definition of "libertarian" is too narrow of a category to describe them.

PiT if he still counts as a libertarian. I've also always liked Svenson in all his iterations. Granted I get along well with almost all of the libertarians on Atlas. Being a mutual 'other' to the left builds comradery.
