And so Wyoming begins.

The Republicans are running neck and neck with the actual voters. Fremont's optimism and rugged frontierism is an excellent fit. On the other hand, Goldwater's big business stances are pretty good too, and he has the endorsement of the Cheneys.

For the Democrats, it is Bryan who has the advantage, however this is his final advantage, and if he loses it, he is out of the race because the next slate of races are Northeastern and his funds have dwindled. He is still going to campaign long and hard anyway.

McGovern is also managing a decent grassroots operation based on expanding farm subsidies, though his liberal stances are not a natural fit.

As for Humphrey, his operations are small and mostly based in Cheyenne, the campaign knows the odds the are slim and thus prefer to cut losses and wait for New York.

Republican Party

Barry Goldwater 50%
John Fremont 50%

Despite all the endorsements against him, Senator Fremont still managed to poll dead even with Goldwater after everything was decided. In the end, it literally came down to a coin flip to figure out who would get the edge...and it landed on Goldwater.

Democratic Party

George McGovern (46.15%)
Hubert Humphrey (38.46%)
William Jennings Bryan (15.38%)

In an unexpected turn, though the Caucuses did turn out to be a horse-race, said horse-race came from Humphrey vs McGovern instead of Bryan vs McGovern, the two anti-establishment choices running. Disappointed by the results and seeing the writing on the wall, Senator Bryan dropped out of the race.

Though McGovern still won the caucuses comfortably, this night was unexpectedly good for Humphrey who had virtually written off the state.
