Since I can't vote for myself, I'll go with David S.

John Dibble, not because I always agree with him, but because getting someone who's liberal economically to give advice to someone else who's borderline liberal economically would only serve to reinforce each other instead of actually arriving at the best decision.  What would be the point of having David S as your advisor?  You might as well just not have one and make all of your decisions yourself.

With age comes wisdom and experience.  How can a young person think that he is smart enough to guide a country without an older person advising him?

Nclib, mainly because his views are probably closest to mine, but it wouldn't be reinforcement because I hardly understand half the economic issues I would face.

No...  A president can't be his own economic advisor.

Bono should have been included.  I was a few credits short of a double major with econ. but I loathed the subject after
intro.  Bono really loves the subject and has a good deal of knowledge in the area.  I disagree with his views but he is a smart young man.

An economics degree would likely be a hindrance in this position.  I accidentally voted for myself.

Gabu, and Joe Republic would be among my most favorite choices -mainstream, very intelligent, not to mention capable.  Gabu's mathematical talents would make him a prime candidate for the Federal Reserve, perhaps even as Federal Reserve Chairman.  Joe Republic would be perhaps the best candidate for the economics adviser position.

i considered John Ford, but i have come to the conclusion that it would be better to have him as Defense Secretary instead, since that is the area in which he specializes.

Since I can't vote for myself, nclib, provided he has already or did take some economics classes. His main qualifcations are that he's reasonable and  has a math degree.

I wouldn't need economic advisors, since I'd just be practicing classical economics.

Thank you to the people who voted for me (and I promise you I'm not one of them), but I'm a little confused by it.  I don't think I've ever displayed much of an interest in economic issues on this forum, or even a very detailed knowledge of them either!

Oh well, that never really stopped any of the real-life economic advisors...
