Not a big fan of generational politics in general but since we had one about Millennials i'm interested to hear what people have to say about other generations.

You mean those awful 1990s moderate heroes who cheered about "welfare reform" and mandatory minimum sentences?

The worst.

White Gen Xers (born in the mid-60s) also tend to be one of the most overall Republican leaning groups, whereas the left is more boomers and millennials.

If you go to Socialist gatherings the age demographics I've noticed tend to be over 65 and under 30.

Like I said on the previous thread, this is a pointless exercise, but I generally like the Gen Xers I know, so FG.

Horrible Generation generally. But two notable exceptions are Barack Obama and Seth MacFarlane.

You guys are supposed to hate the generation before yours.  It's the way it goes.  Don't worry though, you'll be hated soon enough.

HP. Most of this generation's (all but the youngest portions) attachment to Reaganism has been destroying this country for decades now.

Why hate on the generation of Hunter S Thompson, George Carlin and some of the greatest rockers and civil rights and anti-war activists?

It is interesting that few US demographers disagree with the definition of 1946-1964 for the Boomers. It's based on the clear pattern of US birth rates which drops below 20 per 1000 starting in 1965. Yet there are two camps of opinion for the definition of Gen X, 1965-1984 and 1961 to 1981. I think the difference comes from the fairly uniform start of the Millennials around 1982, which pushed the end of Gen-X backwards. For those who wanted to keep generations in roughly 20-year spans, that meant pushing the start date of Gen-X back as well. However that creates an overlap with the Boomers. The alternative is to just shorten Gen-X to birth years 1965-1981 which I have seen in some reports.

I don't really hate them. Was just reacting to all the bashing of everyone after them on here. Tongue
