Gilmore wins a close election with low turnout on both sides.


Former Governor Jim Gilmore (R-VA) / Former Governor George Pataki (R-NY): 50%; 284 Electoral Votes
Former Senator Jim Webb (D-VA) / Former Governor Lincoln Chafee (D-RI): 48%; 254 Electoral Votes
