Why did John Edwards perform so outstandingly well in the West Virginia primary? He received 7.31% four months after he had dropped out!!!
Do you think he could have won the primary if it had been held before Super Tuesday?
And could he have won WV in the general?

Pro-union white Southern moderates are (or at least used to be) a great fit for West Virginia.

Because the other options were a black and a woman.

Sportydude, a question that good deserves a scenario and a map!

John Edwards (D-NC) / Leland Yee (D-CA) 52% / 354 EV
John McCain (R-AZ) / Tim Pawlenty (R-MN) 46% / 184 EV

John Edwards is sworn in as yet another Southern Democratic President, Leland Yee is sworn in as the first Asian-American VP, and Minnesota the anti-bellwether re-elects Norm Coleman to the Senate.
