He's saying that primary voters will now prioritize November electability over all other issues.

Um, most GOP primary voters think Trump is the most electable candidate.

This poll is a couple weeks old, but I imagine the numbers are similar now:
https://today.yougov.com/news/2016/01/31/americans-expect-trump-clinton-victories-ahead-iow/

"Clinton and Trump remain in front nationally when their respective partisans are asked who will win each party’s nomination, but they also rank first for electability. 82% of Republican primary voters say Trump could win in the fall, 90% of Democratic voters believe Clinton could win."

Most likely they wouldn't let anyone appointed out of the Senate Judiciary Committee and just bork Obama's nominee regardless of the circumstances. No need for a filibuster.

This is a good point. Also, Trump has the comeback that Cruz supported the nomination of John Roberts, who has the baggage of voting to uphold the ACA.

I feel ill. This is like the one thing that could force me to vote Pub in November. The Clean Power Plan, affirmative action, mandatory public sector union fees, DACA: this was a big term. 4-4 decisions are going to reinforce the status quo.

If Obama can actually get a nominee through before November, this helps Sanders. If not (which I think is probably more likely) it's better for Clinton.

Name the 14 republicans who would be willing to vote for him. (Supreme Court nominations in ELECTION YEARS aren't the sort of nonpartisan affair his appeals court nomination was.)

An aside: If you're cheering the death of someone solely on ideological grounds, you need some help. He has a family, kids, friends, etc. Scalia is a person, not a political prop, be respectful.

Obviously the Supreme Court will be an issue.  The Republicans will be sure to let its conservative base know what's at stake, and hopefully Democrats can figure out how to mobilize the progressive base, and also sway voters on the fence who are not happy with the Court's recent far swing to the right.  Hopefully Democrats can communicate to moderate voters who oppose such decisions as Citizens United that keeping the White House in Democratic hands is vital.

We'll see about that.

Antonin Scalia has been confirmed dead, at the age of 79.

How does this influence the 2016 race?

Yeah, no, he cheered wrongful execution and loved hating people who were different from him. He can burn in hell.
