Justice Henry Baldwin died in office on April 21, 1844. He wasn't replaced for more than two years, partly because of partisan gridlock. (read on twitter)

Since then most Supreme's have been confirmed in far shorter periods of time than Obama has left in office. Still very much a weird situation.

An aside: If you're cheering the death of someone solely on ideological grounds, you need some help. He has a family, kids, friends, etc. Scalia is a person, not a political prop, be respectful.

This. Even if it's just trolling... too much, guys.

Welcome to politics in 2016.

politics of forever really.

A Canadian pussy? Please, Trump isn't an idiot.

There are no moderate Supreme Court Justices or Senators. Why is that so hard for Atlas to understand? lol

Moderates exist in America. They are some that are tired of the left-right crap.

lol

The founders giving every state 2 Senators was the ultimate troll job.

You clearly miss the point of constitutional federalism.

I know, I know....'muh pure democracy'.

There's more than one way to skin a cat.

Say that again on Nov 9 when you're in shock of president-elect Ted Cruz.

Lol,  it would be so cool if Ted Cruz turns out to be the GOP nominee.

A Cruz v Sanders race would be awesome because it would be an honest debate of the issues.

I have been saying this for quite a while. Cruz and Sanders are both honest people who are not corrupt, unlike certain other candidates.

lol. The idea that lurking at an ideological extreme makes you some sort of magic truth-teller is a very annoying meme, almost as bad as the OMG NON-PARTISAN MODERATE!!11 junk. I mean universally non-moderate politicians are - often - less corrupt because they are a) typically non-careerist true belivers and b) because they have no power. But Cruz and Sanders are still politicians who cater and pander to their own sections of the electorate.

Would you buy a used car from Ted Cruz?
