I have no clue because i'm pretty sure it was widely known that Cruz speaks no spanish at all.

Cruz's Spanish seemed fine. He may not be as fluent as Rubio but maybe he speaks better than he wants to let on to GOP primary voters and Rubio tricked him into revealing that?

Unless Cruz memorized that line beforehand, some of those words are not basic Spanish vocabulary and indicate at least moderate proficiency on Cruz's part.

Cruz had an awkward pronunciation of his Spanish.

Disclaimer: I don't speak Spanish fluently but I live in a part of town where a LOT of people speak Spanish and his pronunciation sounded like slurring
