In admittedly less dramatic news, today I taught my third round of sections, and for the first time I can say it went reasonably well. Far from perfect, mind you (I have that one class that where nobody ever participates and that one where they participate too much and kind of anarchically), but decent. I'm starting to be less stressed out about it.

Out of curiosity, which class?

Intro to Comparative Politics.

Hopefully you're better at it than my prof.

It's days like these that I don't live for...

I don't even know what to say any more... Sure, you might say I'm just a whiny teenager but goddamn my life sucks right now don't be surprised if you see less of me in the future (With my luck I'll make 78 posts tomorrow idek anymore)

I don't eve have anything to say I don't know wh Im doing this.... fml

What's this about?

Luckily I think I've got it all worked out, but my life became a bit of hell recently in addition to/because of me being depressed... I've explained it to a couple people but I think I'm alright

Is it with Thies this quarter? I had him last Fall, and found that class really interesting.

Wait, you're an undergrad at UCLA? Awesome! Cheesy What's your major? If you're planning to take more poli sci courses maybe you'll have me as a TA some day.

Yeah, it's Professor Thies teaching it. He's also my graduate advisor, which is part of why I wanted to start with this class. And I also found that he has a great teaching style.

On the topic of TAing, I'm receiving my first student essays today (about 40 of them). Wish me luck.

Jesus Christ, stay safe LibRep! The storm was a total flop in Boynton from what I've heard. Apparently my parents and brothers went home from my aunts house at around 10:00 PM, having never lost power and having no damage beyond a palm frond in the pool and leaves all over the place. Grandma's good too.

A girl in one of my TA groups appears, in my opinion, to have the hots for me. Granted I'm terrible at gauging this stuff. It's weird 😐

It took my therapist less than a minute to diagnose me with an eating disorder (on the basis of things I've previously said to her) after I brought up the possibility.

I hope Virginia's all right with all that's going on in Florida, as she'd been last active over 2 days ago.

You'd think that's it, but given that she hasn't submitted her first assignment yet, it's hard to tell.

If I were to invoke my inner Trump, I'd say take advantage of her submissive behavior if you think she looks hot.

As for me, I'd advise being cautious, especially if you're reading the situation correctly.  If you do find her attractive, both physically and mentally, then keep it professional for now and maybe find out if you have any shared interests beyond the class.  If so, then you've got a possibility to explore once the class is over and the grading is done.

If you want to end it, just show her some of your international elections maps and analyze them in detail. That should stop that quickly.

My PM score just jumped from -6, -5 to -4.5, -1.5. This isn't good. I'm gonna try taking some other tests and see if it's reflected in those...

(Side note: do we have a Political Matrix thread?)

EDIT: Spekr pegs me at Economic -47 and Cultural -15 (Social Democrat)

The ones that don't matter and security, as far as I can remember. I've also become a lot more pro-union

ONE OF US

Home for the extended weekend to work on my paper. Essentially just synthesizing a history of Russia with some of the very basic observations of "those types" of people--Skocpol, in this case. As opposed to the first two types of sections I tried to write--one largely complete, concerning just very general, open-source economic statistics; the other, concerning religion, that stopped just after a write-up on the Russian Orthodox Church--this is going to try to come up with some broad "social theory" based on dates and circumstances of industrialization. Very pathetic stuff, probably done before (I can only read so much).

My paper this weekend is going to use Wittgenstein--whom I actually sort-of-understand now, unlike the last time I brought him up on the forum--as a blunt instrument to argue that human language can't support any single, universally applicable definition of mystical experience.
