What grade are you in? I don't remember ever having to write that kind of stuff, and I'm a senior.

8th Grade, I know my teacher is mental, I also go to a private school so I guess it's different. My topics are abortion and religious liberty and why I support or oppose it while backing it up with evidence, court rulings and the Cathechism of the Catholic Church. She said that we need to learn these things for high school and what not. I am also around 4 pages done!!!

I got a mold taken of my eye socket, which they'll use to create the prosthesis. Also I didn't get too much financial aid from Cornell, but we're trying to get the blind people organization to cough up some money.

I can't believe I just heard the term 'sex-negative' get used completely unironically in a theology class.

You should highly recommend the forum to whoever said that.

It was a guest lecture by this guy. I was prepared to like him and then he made a wildly inappropriate rape analogy.

What was the analogy? (analogies themselves might sometime be sharp/uncomfortable in order to make them worthwhile analogies)

That conservatives who are uncomfortable with gay marriage but go to gay weddings out of social obligation or as an attempt to broaden their horizons are acting like if he, the speaker, went to the wedding of a known rapist. The entire class--which at my school is a pretty wide political and theological spectrum--was unified in finding the analogy completely uncalled-for, one of the only things we've had a consensus on in this class in weeks. The rest of his part of the lecture, other than the use of 'sex-negative' which in this context honestly came across as a shibboleth more than anything else, was actually fine (some interesting stuff about the role black churches play in fostering homophobia in the black community, and at what point and for what reasons black churches started doing that); it was after he left that the next guest lecturer dragged the discussion down into the lowest circle of hardcore-social-constructivist Foucauldian queer theory hell (did you know that anyone can be queer as long as they feel marginalized because of their sexual practices?! Makes you think!).

Well played Tongue

Only consolidation of today was learning that my history module for next year is 'American Politics and Society from 1877 to the present day' which should be good fun, and the tutor is an expert on US-Israeli relations which should be good fun

Finished my thesis and I can tell you it's not politically correct at all, I discussed the issues of bible electives in public schools, Ten Commandments Statues, abortion and religious liberty. I am definitely happy that my History teacher didn't assign this as I think, I would need a coffin.

Turns out last quarter's grades haven't been very good. I already knew I got an A- on one exam section for a class, now turns out I got a B on one exam question for another class. I still somehow managed to get straight As in my actual class grades, but it's still a bit humiliating.

After weeks of debating, I finally managed to convince my TRUMP supporting friend here in FL to no longer support Trump.

But he supports Bernie now lol.

I woke up today and power was out in the entire block. Apparently because of the wind (lol).

After a couple hours of figuring out what to do, I had to take a bus and waste 40 minutes to go to campus to be able to get internet access and get some work done. I was already going to have a busy weekend.

Uggggghhhh.

Just got back from the third meeting of the Board of Commissioners subcommittee I'm on. We mostly just listened to presentations from private groups, but the council did decide to vote two of its members off for having too many absences (and, likely, for annoying the chairperson at the meeting they were present).
