I'm kind of glad we don't have a microwave in our room. There's one on the floor, but I've never had to use it yet.

That was kind of my point: a female eunuch could definitely be possible by the way these things are defined.

Today I learned there are more Arabs in congress than I though:

Justin Amash, Darrell Issa, Gwen Graham, Charles Boustany, Ralph Abraham, Garret Graves

I'm just glad we're being represented at least.

Robert Pittenger's wife's family is Lebanese and Darin LaHood is part Lebanese as well, via Ray LaHood.

Well, I took the GRE today as part of a concurrent master's degree program I'm applying for, and I got 170 on the verbal and quantitative sections, so I'm pretty happy about that.

Ugh, I'm jealous. With those scores I might have gotten into Stanford or Berkeley. Sad

You'll be fine.  Tongue

Trust me, as long as you're just talking about the general test, it's quite easy, especially the quantitative section.  It only goes up to high school geometry and a bit of Algebra 2.

So long story short, I've been completely driven out of my home of the last year and had to move into a bigger, more expensive unit in my building as a last resort.

On another note: I got a call from the Whatcom County Democrats today. I'll be doorbelling this Sunday! The person calling me said they were having problems reaching young voters this year.

Wait, is this is a good thing or a bad thing? By the word 'expensive' I'll assume bad. Why did you get driven out of your home?

Haha, I took some practice stuff online and I'll definitely have to bone-up on some stuff. I may be able to put off doing it (there's a grad program at my school that, thusly, wouldn't require it), but I'd rather have my options open and be able to apply wherever. Plus, the results are valid for a little bit, aren't they?

Why can't you find another building?  Maybe somewhere safer?

Bah, GRE-SHMEE-AREREE I got into Texas A&M just fine without it. Only reason for my lack of a Red Texas avvie is my low savings.

PRAXIS is "big test" enough for me.

But really, lots of respectable places don't require the thing.

So long story short, I've been completely driven out of my home of the last year and had to move into a bigger, more expensive unit in my building as a last resort.

I've lived in a very safe, very nice, and very reasonably priced building directly across the street from FSU for the last year. My old roommate moved out and the new guy moved in. Within a week, he had two friends moved in (with no intentions of kicking them out), was selling weed well over the felony limit, and made it clear that I was living in his apartment despite the fact that I had been there long before him. On top of it all, like my junkie brother, he was taking Xanax and acting like a general nutcase. We had some drunken fights that usually got very heated and on more than one occasion resulted in our neighbors restraining us. I at one point popped into the IRC to see just how dangerous a situation I was in (he think's he's Scarface but in reality he's a spoiled rich Brazilian kid from Boca with past rape allegations leveled against him) regarding the drugs. I was trying to engineer his eviction, but the building couldn't help me unless I ratted him out in a way that would expose my efforts, something I was unwilling to do as it would jeopardize what little peace I had in the interim. Not to mention that it would make a Xanax addicted prick with an unlimited amount of money and a small army of actually intimidating friends who seem to be constantly indebted to him willing to do his bidding.

So, long story short, I ended up moving from the second floor to a single unit in the basement. It costs more, but it was the only choice I could make that would not a) make me look like an asshole, b) result in a long running legal drama that would surely bog me down for the remainder of the year.

I wish I was back in my old apartment. I wish I never met this scumbag. I wish a lot of things. But basically, for the first time in five weeks, I can go back to living my normal life without his two ghetto thug friends sleeping on my couch and stealing my smokes and having to worry about who was at the door every time there was a knock. In fact, the day I moved out, his two friends got accused of stealing a purse from a girl who they were selling weed too. It was just a bad situation that was only getting worse and worse.

TL;DR, my roommate uses his family wealth (his dad was in charge of all Latin American CitiBank branches apparently) to buy himself friends who come from neighborhoods that he himself would never enter to help him run his pretend cartel. It's only a matter of time before he gets himself into serious trouble in his desperate quest to live out his twisted fantasy of being some type of college town cartel kingpin.

I'd like to thank my two forum nemesis's Xahar and DFB for giving me the advice of "quit being a shithead." That actually probably prevented me from escalating the situation and doing something I'd regret like outright inviting the police in or something, as it appealed to both my ego and my desire to.....well.....not be viewed by neighbors as being an asshole.

That sounds like it will end poorly for the Brazilian.

At least you won't be around for when he inevitably pisses off the real drug dealers.
