Pretty sure you don't need PBS to watch Downton Abbey in the UK. Wink

Initially I had a grade of 80 on my last accounting test. That was considerably lower than I was expecting, but not impossibly lower if I'd made a systematic error. I asked the instructor what I had done wrong, and it turned out he'd posted the wrong grade for me. I'd actually gotten a 103.

Lol...one of mother Russia's greatest leaders was a lady! But yeah, good call.

Catherine the Great:
- Arrested and possibly assassinated her husband, Peter III
- Increased serfdom
- Drastically cut the power of Cossacks and peasants
- Had a rebel leader executed and dismembered
- Had far higher taxes on Jews and Muslims than Orthodox Christians
- Banned Jews from Russia's middle class
- Denied Jews the rights of Orthodox Christians and naturalized Russian citizens
- Doubled taxes on Jews again in 1894 while declaring Jews and Russians were not at all related
- Owned half a million serfs(hundreds if not thousands of times more serfs than any President had slaves)
- Introduced rights for owners to sentence serfs to hard labor in Siberia

Other than that, she was a great leader.

What do you mean by "other than"?

I thought we had a movies thread, but I can't seem to find it.

Anyway, saw The Accountant with my fiancee last night. Was expecting it to be a decent but not great movie, and it turned out better than I thought it would be. It's a nice blend of action-adventure and character-driven story. Might be good enuf to get an Oscar nomination or two, but I doubt if it'll get a win given how the Academy always gives action-adventure films short shrift. It's not a CGI-laden effects film, so it won't get a technical.  It's a reasonably low budget film by Hollywood standards, and they left the hooks for a possible sequel without being painfully obvious about it, so I'm hopeful they'll do one.

Mike Pence is giving a rally speech at my college on Monday.  So disappointed that I won't be there to protest. Sad

Trump is coming to Tally, and I'm looking forward to that. I'm also looking forward to putting the nasty nightmare of last night beyond me. Fooled around with a mind altering substance, got burned. Praise God I didn't get out on the streets, it'd probably end up with me getting arrested screaming naked at a fire hydrant.

You're still supporting him? That's sad (as in genuinely sad, not "sad!").

This is hell.

A girl in one of my TA groups appears, in my opinion, to have the hots for me. Granted I'm terrible at gauging this stuff. It's weird 😐

this continued, she seemed flirtatious during the midterm yesterday. rather funny

also regaled one of my groups with my tales of the legendary Kristen, for no good reason

What do depression, stress, anxiety, crippling loneliness, a million problems, and a legion of people who mean well who ends up making things worse have in common? Me.

I found an article that one of my friends wrote for Christianity Today in like 2010 as one of the citations in a Wikipedia article.

Omg why would you phrase it that way, especially under the circumstances in which he left! At first glance of your post I thought the worst

Yayness! My first presidential vote in Florida. Straight Democrat (because partisan hack) and no on retention of 2 gerrymandering-supporting judges. Probably meaningless, but several of the workers there said first day turnout looks to be noticeably better than 2012.

I did a couple shifts canvassing this weekend and I have next weekend and the days leading up to election day booked with shifts as well.
