Things generally look promising for me.  My depression has lessened (but is still there), I feel more successful and productive, and I'm definitely excited about my upcoming job with the county government.  I'm still a bit lonely, but I am making more friends than ever.

My job with the county government is going well, and I will continue working for them.  When the school year starts, I'll be working with special needs students at the university I graduated from, but I'll continue working for the county too.

Today at work (county courthouse), in the parking lot, there was a big pickup truck displaying a huge Confederate flag (next to a tiny US flag).

It looks like I will get to visit Washington DC for the first time.  I will speak at a conference in Fairfax, Virginia in early December.

It is a conference about a program that has helped college students with disabilities and I will just talk about the help I got when I went to college.  I was selected because I did better than other students at my school who got the support.

I am flying out to Washington on Wednesday for the conference in NoVa I speak at (I may not post here Wednesday through Friday).  Looking forward to it, have some sightseeing planned.

I had a great trip to Washington.  I went up the Lincoln Memorial, saw the Washington Monument and the White House, and took a tour of the Capitol.

Our guide allowed my small tour group into John Thune's office.  I sat in Thune's chair and on his desk were a half-eaten bag of jelly beans and a Ronald Reagan mug.
