The only important thing is you do the stuff the actually counts grades wise, especially if you're a first year (are you?)

I am; I've managed to keep on top of my essays and get relatively good marks back on them. I'm in first year so I have the ability to take it a bit easy, just feels pointless paying out all this money Tongue

Finally booked my trip to America with my dad in the Summer; going to Boston, Philly, New York and D.C for 13 days which should be amazing. Only downside is not being able to drink but it's going to be amazing regardless. Hopefully also going to Berlin for a couple of days with my old flatmate-living the middle class dream.

On more pressing concerns have two mini-essays due in tomorrow, and one of them is one a vague concept about state power; politics essays always seem to be as vague as possible. I'll probably stay up to watch the Michigan results trickle in as I work on it

Honestly considering getting sleeping pills, my sleeping pattern has been awful lately. Hopefully it will pick up when I go home

Sleeping pills aren't worth the side effects in my experience, but maybe your brain chemistry will handle them better than mine.

I've heard that they shouldn't be used as a short term thing so I'll probably give them a pass

For a second I thought college in the US was extremely expensive, and then worked out that including my fees I'm taking on 13K debt this year alone

Just registered myself at the local uni, so barring something unforeseen, I will be studying a program called "International Economics" - basically a hybrid of business and economy with a special emphasis on English and a second foreign language (Italian for me) - at the university of Innsbruck in autumn.

I'm now wondering on whether to do a second studies as well, and if so (probably), what exactly. I've been thinking about pol-sci, Maths, or maybe also anglistics or any other language studies. Anyone got any advice for me? Tongue

Something completely unrelated, friends and I also booked some accomodations + bus tickets for our Iceland trip in July this week. So godamn excited and pumped about that! Cheesy

Not sure if it's the same but as someone who does a combined degree (History and Politics) I can assure you that it's worth it purely because it balances out if you're not enjoying a certain topic.

Having to go the Hospital on Monday for an X-Ray and Blood test; as anyone with experience of the NHS knows these walk in clinics are a nightmare as it involves sitting in a waiting room for an hour just for a 5 minute scan. Life under the Tories is rough!

Just found out the Labour Conference is being held in Liverpool, and on the week when I'm moving into my flat for next year which rules out going unfortunately; as other politics students know I'm having to begin my brown-nosing campaign in the hope of getting a job after uni

Have the joy of being still being ill, being extremely tired and forced to live with people who have the social skills of 5 year olds

As somebody who posts on the Atlas I imagine you should be used to this.

Well played Tongue

Only consolidation of today was learning that my history module for next year is 'American Politics and Society from 1877 to the present day' which should be good fun, and the tutor is an expert on US-Israeli relations which should be good fun

Got an absolute ton of work to do, mainly on modern History for the exams next month. Hardest thing about uni is having to waste your day away with menial chores like buying sellotape to fix my draws with.  #Studentlife

Had a relatively good weekend- started going jogging again which gives me something to work to. Meet a tory MP called Andrew Percy who seemed like a top bloke, and had a chat about how much of a sh**te George Osborne is. Now to crack on with exam prep

Just mention Reagan Democrats un-ironically in a paper about the rise and fall of the Working Class, I feel ashamed :/

Another fun night in doing revision- can't wait for the exam period to be over. Only good thing was finding this new podcast called candidate confessions- listened to about 10 of them

Almost wrote Hermain Cain rather than Herman Goering in an exam today. That's worrying

Do I ditch my political principles and take a job with Momentum (the UK equivalent to R/SandersforPresident) over the summer?

Had a hectic week on all fronts- got my final marks from Uni and turns out I've done decent for my first year (although it doesn't count Tongue) Have the joy of trying to find a crappy job back home, whilst campaigning for the EU referendum in the next week so that I can sleep when we vote for Brexit

Spend the morning doing EU campaigning- Labour have managed to turn out a lot of their vote and was a much better/friendly reaction compared to the General Election. Also got a photo with Jeremy Corbyn, and London Mayor Sadiq Khan+ have my internship with Andy Burnham coming up. I'm slowly climbing the greasy pole of the party Tongue

On more exciting news I built a new closet

Have got my internship with Andy Burnham next week, should be interesting to get the gossip on how the Labour Party have fallen apart in the last two weeks.

Have also applied for a rather well paid internship for 6 weeks with a IPOS-MORI, which would pay out £2,000 (effectively paying my first term rent) Really hope I get it

In sadder news our cat passed away today that we've had for 13 years. Got her as a rescue kitten back in '03, and been much loved since
