Aye

This is a needed reform. Don't know how much it will help, but it is a good idea.

Please vote nay on this bill. All it does is increase the bureaucracy involved in the game. All the time I hear people saying that we need more participants. This bill will drive them away when they see how anal we are.

Making voters wait how ever many days before they can register and making the SoFA send PMs with info to each new voter is excessive bureaucracy. Why not keep it the same as we do now. Someone registers, people greet them, tell them there is no GOP/Democratic Party and tell them what parties there are, and then they start talking around to people and finding out what party they should be in. This takes that assimilation stage out and replaces it with a PM from the SoFA.

Eh... I'm going to have to agree with Jake on this one and vote...

Nay.

Honestly, I don't really think that our registration system is in all that bad of a shape, and I feel that this is attempting to fix something that isn't broken.  I am against anything that steepens the learning curve in Atlasia unless it's shown to be very necessary, and I don't immediately see why this is very necessary.

Respectfully, Abstain.

I know I helped bring it to the floor with Wiseguy's creation of it, but I have been leery of it for the reasons Jake gives above.  I normally don't abstain from things, but that's my opinion.

I do want to correct one thing Jake said, that I specifically corrected in the revision of this I made (with everyone's comments in mind).

Voters are allowed to register name and state, just not party.  They will be considered Unaffliated until that point, but can vote and have all citizen rights after ten days (as per the Constitution).  There's also nothing against an unaffliated voter running for election either after ten days.

I assume that in the Register thread, the party leaders will be agitating people anyways and they can do that, there's nothing against it.

This bill now has enough votes to pass; senators now have 24 hours to change their votes.

This bill now doesn't have enough votes to pass. Smiley  Voting continues.  We're currently at 3-3-3.

Okay, now we're 3-4-2; still not quite enough for it to fail.

I change my vote to abstain. While their are reasons why this bill could help the registration process it could also scare away potential citizens. Also their is less need to it since the demise of the AFDNC and AFRNC.

Sorry to see this had to happen, but I think it's the best thing, all considered.  I had my doubts as well (posted above)

I believe this is the first time the Senate's vote-changing period has actually flipped the result of a vote.

You are correct.  It almost did on the Fair Wage Act, but it ended up 5-5 and Alcon broke the tie in favor.

You mean I actually came up with a good idea?

I'm shocked. Cheesy
