One is a county, one is a town, and one is an urban district.

Area A:
1968: Humphrey 54%  Nixon 33%  Wallace 13%

1988: Dukakis 73.3%  Bush 25.8%
1992: Clinton 83%  Bush 11%  Perot 6%
1996: Clinton 91%  Dole 6%  Perot 2%
2000: Gore 95%  Bush 4.2%

Area B:
1960: Kennedy 40%  Nixon 60%
1964: Johnson 70%  Goldwater 30%
1968: Humphrey 57%  Nixon 40%  Wallace 2%
1972: McGovern 68.1%  Nixon 31.2%
1976: Carter 61.7%  Ford 29.3%
1980: Carter 51%  Reagan 21%
1984: Mondale 71%  Reagan 28.7%
1988: Dukakis 74.4%  Bush 23.9%
1992: Clinton 72.7%  Bush 14.0%  Perot 12.2%
1996: Clinton 80%  Dole 11%  Perot 5%
2000: Gore 60%  Bush 14%  Nader 25%
2004: Kerry 84.3%  Bush 12.6%

Area C:
1976: Carter 88%
1984: Mondale 72%
Other years: very high Democratic percentage until 2008, when McCain won 55-44%

All right, I don't see any guesses, so:

Area A is Detroit, MI District 5 (far east side)
Area B is Amherst, MA
Area C is Knott County, KY.

This challenge is too difficult lol.  Maybe give hints or limit it to counties/major cities.

Thank you. My thought on Area A was northern city (per Humphrey's overperformance in '68), perhaps in MI or MA (per Carter's '76 underperformance), which changed in ethnic makeup from the 1970s to 2000.  Area B Yankee Protestant, liberal, collegiate.  Area C Appalachia, per Obama's tanking in '08.

Yeah I think someone could've gotten the county if they tried hard enough, but the town and the district were too difficult.  There are tens of thousands of towns and districts across the country and not all of them have easily accessible historical voting data.

OK, just one more: which community in 1980 cast all 29 of its votes for Libertarian Ed Clark?
