Hello Atlas!

Recently I've been thinking of a game we could play together. For now I'll call it "States of Atlas".

It would be played this way:

-Players will create their states, which they'll describe in their economic and demographic characteristics.
-A game moderator will decide which candidates will fit best for the races held in the states created by the players.
-The players will release opinion polls about the races in their states, which will serve as a guide to the moderator to build the candidates' campaigns.
-The players will decide the final results of the election of their state.

Depending on the number of states, we could form a "federal government", for which we'd require a minimum of 13 states to agree on a Constitution. Such federal government would be managed by the game moderator as the creator of all its candidates, with the players deciding if the officeholders continue in office for the following term. If there is no federal government, only statewide elections would be held.

If you're interested in this game, please let me know in this thread. If you have any suggestions for the game, I'll be glad to receive it.

States created so far:
Mannocquan - evergreen
New Western Pacific - 1184AZ
Siouan - vern1988
New Germany - Kingpoleon
Jefferson - Classic Conservative
Rohan - Enduro
Jameson - Potus2036
Appalachia - NeverAgain
Cielona - Leinad
Coahuilteca - TheCranberry
Calechee - Southern Gothic
Narragansett - cxs018

Great, we already have a Democrat, a Republican and an Independent!

Soon I'll be making an example of how the game will be played so that no one gets lost at the moment of truth Smiley

Sure why not lol. I will be in, not sure how good I would do, haha. It would be cool if we used a map of the USA and we could make our states out of that map.

This looks like a cool and practical idea. Smiley

I'd like using either Eurasia or the Americas as a basis. I suggest a minimum and maximum size.

This could work too. I'm thinking of doing a poll regarding this in the following days.

OK, I know I'm a little late for this (a little... Tongue) Let's do that example.

1. So, the first step to building your state is to build its demographics.

Which demographics, exactly? You decide! It could be people by location, by race, by income, by religion, by age, by education level... or all of them!

So... let's go with Exampleland.

Exampleland's biggest city is Exampleburg. So by location, Exampleland is divided in the following:

-Downtown Exampleburg (500,000 voters here)
-The 4 "Exampleburg layers" (suburbs and small towns)
 -First layer (200,000 voters)
 -Second layer (40,000 voters)
 -Third layer (45,000 voters)
 -Fourth layer (15,000 voters)
-Rural areas and other towns. (200,000 voters)

In this ocasion, just for the sake of simplicity, I'll be doing the demographics purely by location. It'd be great if you built more complex demographics Tongue

2. The second step is to decide how do this people vote. Are they Democrats, Republicans, Independents or something else? Why? What issues do they care about and what positions to they take on them? Why would they turn out or not?

3. Now that you've built this data, you're ready to play the game! I will (or someone else if I decide to give away the moderator posts) decide which candidates will run in both the primaries and the general elections in your state, and you'll decide which candidates will win, why, who will turn out and who won't and for whom did they turn out. Remember to be as complex as possible! Smiley

So, here are the options we have for our map so far:

-The US
-The Americas
-Eurasia
-A bunch of islands

If you're already in the game, let us know your opinion of the options for the map, or propose your own idea. If you're not, what are you waiting for? Wink

Are we able to recreate current states? I'm interested in doing Minnesota, but revamping politics, demographics, population, etc. while keeping counties and geography of Minnesota. That permissible?

Yeah, you could do that Smiley

Since the US has been established, what if we just used the current map? Like you could annex a state or take away from it, like Evergreen has made a New England state, he/she could, say, combine Vermont, New Hampshire, and Maine to make this state. Like we each pick a state/states and revamp them? I think that could be interesting. Just a thought.

Also I'm actually thinking of doing Florida...
