I am starting a thread to see who everybody thinks was/is America's best President going all the way back to George Washington and all the way through George W. Bush

I will have a set time that each bracket will close (stated at the beginning of each bracket).

I will do 5 at a time from 1-40 and then 41-43 will be in a bracket by themselves.

This will be a long thread, because the top 4 of each bracket will move on.

What I want in each post is your rank of each President.

Example:

1. President 1
2. President 4
3. President 3
4. President 2
5. President 5

If this were to be the only post, President 5 would be eliminated.  (Highest score will be eliminated).  If there is a tie for the highest score, I will flip a coin.

My next post will announce Round 1: Bracket 1: and the closing time.
The post after that will begin Round 1: Bracket 1:

1 post per person per bracket

It's the first bracket, with the first five Presidents.

I think this closed an hour ago. Or maybe it closes in five minutes.
If I understood this correctly, the results are:
Jefferson 30
Washington 30
Madison 40
Adams 46
Monroe 49 - eliminated

This is assuming jdb wanted to list Madison fifth (he didn't list him at all.) His vote doesn't affect elimination, though.

It did close at 4:00 am, I just didn't get a chance to change it until now.

The results are:

1. George Washington -- 30
1. Thomas Jefferson -- 30
3. James Madison -- 40
4. John Adams -- 46
5. James Madison -- 48 -- ELIMINATED:

Bracket 2 will be in my next post, followed by my rank, then Bracket 2 will be open

Where did I miscount? What'd you do about jdb's vote?
