"Jeb Bush's top adviser, Sally Bradshaw, has left the Republican Party to become an independent, and says if the presidential race in Florida is close, she'll vote for Hillary Clinton."

Utah Lt. Gov. Spencer Cox won't vote for Trump.  He's met with McMullin and is interested in learning more about him.

Could you move the policy discussion to another thread and leave this one for actual endorsement news, pretty please?

And I thought Cruz at least had some twisted form of morality and principles. Guess not.

This.  Cruz doesn't have many redeeming qualities to begin with, but now we scan scratch this one as well.

I read this article all the way through and find it compelling.  It has caused me to reevaluate some of my conclusions.

I now see logic in folks not wanting to choose either candidate.  Before reading this, I viewed much of that as folks being cowards, wanting to rationalize that they were still Republicans, even while engaging in a serious break from party loyalty.

Erick Erickson is done reconsidering, endorses McMullin

He would have made a better mark for his case if he backed Johnson and Weld, who should be acceptable candidates for most #NeverTrump Republicans, except the neocon types.  I think part of the issue is that Johnson and Weld are running as a member of a third party and not as independents, which makes it complicated for those who wish to remain Republicans.

I'm not sure.  I don't really understand the whole idea of voting for third parties in the first place, but no social conservative would vote for Gary Johnson.

Yes, Johnson (and the LP in general) are pro-choice, which is a deal-breaker for Erickson.

So the face of modern libertarianism is voting for a candidate whose platform includes universal single-payer health care, free college for all, free child care, and a guaranteed job at a living wage.  We really have seen it all.

(Not that I think these are necessarily bad things, but they sure ain't libertarian.)

It's the 2016 election cycle, and this is what you people are most shocked by?

No, but it's just another brick in the wall.

How many prominent GOP women still support him? By the end of the weekend it might be just Palin and she is nuts.

At the moment, I think the 6 female Republican senators are split: Capito, Ernst, and Fischer all back him, while Ayotte, Collins, and Murkowski don't.  Though Capito has sounded rather unenthusiastic about supporting him in the past, so maybe she'll unendorse over this.  Among governors, I think Fallin and Haley support him, while Martinez doesn't.

I'll predict that Haley unendorses.  She has ambitions for higher offices in the future.

Mitt Romney is also in Nevada spewing right-wing talking points. Let's see if he says anything about Trump.

This might be the straw that pushes Mitt to endorse McMullin.

Why haven't Little Marco and Pat Toomey said anything yet?

Because they're in no-win situations.  Either position will cost them votes they can't afford to lose, especially Toomey.

Cruz should have done the principled thing and stuck by his guns on "vote your conscience" and never endorsed the snake oil salesman from New York.

As a former resident of the great state of Texas, there are lines that should not be crossed.

Although, I disagree with Rick Perry and George W. on many fundamental policy positions, they always recognized and stood up for Tejanos and Latino-Americans in Texas when it came to scapegoating and racist stereotypes. Most statewide Republican political leaders are well aware of the amazing contributions that Tejanos and Latinos have made in Texas, from the Revolution against Santa Ana to the present day.

Cruz virtually sold his soul to the devil when he endorsed Trump, and I really hopes he walks his recent endorsement back, as a man of God and faith and for the future of Texas and America that is inclusive for people of all backgrounds in pursuit of the American Dream.

Again, not a big Cruz supporter but his opinion still counts in Texas and the endorsement of Trump shortly before the recent revelations could well have sealed his political career, and he won't be buried in hallowed ground next to Sam Houston in Huntsville Texas even metaphorically when "all the eyes of Texas are upon you".

Cruz has the worst sense of timing in the history of U.S. politics.

Ari Fleischer, who opposed Trump in the primary but has reluctantly supported him in the general election, wrote an op-ed saying he'll leave his Presidential vote blank: https://www.washingtonpost.com/opinions/ari-fleischer-heres-how-i-figured-out-whom-to-vote-for/2016/11/04/7bcee1ec-a1fd-11e6-8d63-3e0a660f1f04_story.html?wpisrc=nl_opinions&wpmm=1
