The dude's polling at 10%, he barely has any delegates, why is he still in?

It's a very long nap. Somebody should check is he's still breathing.

Sanders and Carson are in the same weird position. When they first announced, everyone assumed Sanders was another Kucinich who would get 15% at most and never win a state, and Carson was another Alan Keyes, would get 15% at most and never win a state. Had that remained the case, no one would have expected either to drop out before the convention. It's only because they did so well and become contenders for the nomination at one point, that people started expecting them to act like normal candidates and drop out if they lost.

There's the theory that Trump wants him to stay in as the second choice of many Carson voters might be Cruz.  OTOH, I'd think many Carson supporters might have Trump, Duke endorsement notwithstanding, as their second choice.

Free advertising.

He'll stay in as long as the Republican Party is willing to keep giving him free press.

Once the math looks nearly impossible for Cruz. That stunt the Cruz camp pulled in Iowa is one of his motivators for staying in the race, at least in my opinion.

I have a theory that Donald Trump has "persuaded" Ben Carson to stay in the race to help thwart Ted Cruz's bid to win the nomination, in some sort of quid pro quo arrangement. Therefore, I strongly believe that whenever it appears that likely that Donald Trump will earn enough delegates to eventually earn the nomination, that is when I think Ben Carson will coincidentally "regretfully" drop out of the race.

I don't expect any of the Democrats or other Republicans to drop out anytime soon, with the exception of Carson. However, I have no idea about Carson, except that he is more likely to drop out before anyone else.

I think it'll be tomorrow. He's had his fair share of advertising now, his purpose in this race is nil. But he's continued after coming in dead last in NH and SC so I have now real confidence.

Ben Carson, at this point, comes across a harmless dog. And anyone who has ever had a dog knows that a dog likes to hang with at least one family member. Ben Carson may as well stay in the race.
