What's enraging about all of this - ROMNEY RAN ON A PLATFORM OF ALL OF THIS!!!

Since George W. Bush, Republicans have lied about torturing people, used immigrants and muslims as scapegoats, and have been haters of the first amendment with their criticisms of the free press. With all due respect, the Republicans have been advocating the TRUMP platform for decades - they just finally realize how ugly it is once their platform is personified.

I have no sympathy for Mitt Romney and other Republicans who have finally looked in the mirror. It's disgusting that he has no self-awareness of it.

The fact that Romney attacked Trump for not supporting "entitlement reform" shows he has no clue. TOP TIP TO REPUBLICANS: Just running on tax cuts for high earners and ending Social Security is not going to help you with the Trump base, moderates or anyone bar conservative ideologues and the donor class.

Romney is a choke artist. He would've gotten on his knees for my endorsement! The only bigger choker is Rubio with Chris Christie. Wow, that was brutal.

Fox News completely pro-Trump now!

..okay, how does "the establishment" still not get this? How do they expect REPUBLICAN PRIMARY VOTERS to turn on Donald J. Trump, who's saying everything that Republicans WANT to say and hear but CANNOT say because of POLITICAL CORRECTNESS, just because of a "harsh rebuttal" from a RINO/moderate/liberal establishment loser like Willard Mitt Romney who LOST to the black Kenyan Muslim socialist communist anti-Christ Martian Barack Hussein Obama? Newsflash to the establishment Republicans: trying to stop Donald Trump is only going to embolden his supporters to want to support him more. All you're doing is feeding the beast every time you send an establishment surrogate out to stop him. Trump is absolutely loving this. His supporters see this as a clear reinforcement of what Trump has been saying all along about how out of touch the Washington establishment is, how they're all a bunch of lightweight losers, and how they're willing to waste millions of their dollars trying to stop them, more than what they are willing to spend to stop Hillary.

The sooner the Republican Party realizes that the crazies have hijacked their party, the sooner they'll get it; otherwise, they will just continue shooting themselves in the foot and handing elections to the Democrats. Trump is going to destroy the party, which has been his motive behind his entire candidacy. He knows how to wield and manipulate the "poorly educated" white working class sheeple who are supporting him.

What a sad state of affairs in American democracy. The rest of the world must be laughing at us.

Donald just fell right into Mitt's trap. Romney gave a terrific speech, well supported and eloquent. While Donald gave a 40 minute ramble of insults and paper thin backing of his policies. It was quite the contrast.

Wrong. Mitt fell into Trump's trap. Nobody cares about Mitt's boring, hypocritical speech, and several GOPers are angrier than ever before and support Trump more than ever. Maybe you would be right if this was The West Wing, but this is real life and in America.

As you might have heard, Mitt Romney trashed Donald Trump in a speech.

The best part is that Donald Trump actually endorsed him four years ago. What a piece of s**t (referring to Mitt Romney).

Which is exactly what Republican primary voters want to hear and respond to: Donald Trump's "third-grade theatrics" >>> Mitt Romney's PC establishment "eloquent" mumbo jumbo. Trump's sheeple would have been more upset had he not eviscerated Willard. Basically, now you're either for Trump or you're against him, and if you're against him, you will be destroyed (if you're a "Republican"), which now has the establishment in a bind: how adamant are they on their insistence to stop Trump: does this just mean stop him as the Republican nominee, or do they want to stop him from being President, because if the latter is true, the only way they are going to do that (realistically) is to support Hillary(!) or mount a credible third-party challenge, but the latter of which will do nothing but guarantee the White House to Hillary.

Poor Republicans. Smiley

Let's just call this speech what it is: a blatant attempt by Romney to deflect attention from recent allegations that he made a sextape with a young black woman while married to Ann. All good Republicans call on Mitt Romney to release the tape to prove his innocence.

This is a guy that blatantly and knowingly flip flopped on several issues over the course of years.  I think he's probably somewhat self aware of his own hypocrisy.  Tongue

It is nice to see the Republicans eating each other alive from a lefty standpoint, though.

So Romney owes him something? Unless he actively courted Trump's endorsement, that's not how it works.

Frankly, while this a pretty forceful speech, I don't see how the establishment former nominee slamming Trump necessarily hurts him. Maybe it does, but I don't really think it will.

The attacks are working; Trump isn't getting the delegates he needs to win the nomination outright, which is the bottom line.

Anyone to insults George W. Bush over 9/11 while praising Putin isn't winning the GOP nomination. That would be like Margaret Thatcher winning the Labour Party nomination.

You're delusional.

Thanks for providing us Democrats with plenty of potential attack ads to use against Trump in the GE, Mittens!

Well said.
Every time Little-Hands trump speaks in anger, he acts like a child having a tantrum.
Completely immature and Un-presidential.

Just like last week when Little-Hands trump was throwing water all over the stage from a water bottle (his horrible attempt to imitate Rubio needing to drink water).
Extremely childish. The guy has no class.

This speech now has its own (rather extensive, given the circumstances) Wikipedia page. This must be what the establishment spends its time doing nowadays.

Not a fan of Romney, but its pretty historic for the previous nominee to aggressively attack the current front runner of his party. Just like Christie's endorsement opened up an avenue for other politicians to endorse Trump, Romney's speech essentially told other establishment GOP politicians that they don't need to vote or support Trump in any manner. This speech is definitely significant enough to warrant its own Wikipedia article.
