How many people here only support politicians they agree with 100% on every issue?
Why is Jenner a horrible person for supporting Cruz? Or are all trans people part of some monolithic block that has to place trans issues above everything else.

Supporting someone who thinks that you shouldn't have civil rights makes no sense. It's sort of like a black person supporting George Wallace for Governor of Alabama. Granted there were those that did, it still was a nonsensical thing to do. This isn't about being a monolithic bloc.

What is Cruz's position on transgender issues?

He blamed trans people for the planned parenthood shooting, and also attacked Trump in an ad for wanting "transgender bathrooms in your child's school."

Yeah, that means Caitlyn is voting against her self-interests, a lot of people do that. But here you have Invisible Obama goes on a tirade against her for that support. Yeah maybe she is making a stupid decision but that is HER decision.

You may be right, but people take you less seriously when instead of engaging with the substance of the argument at hand you resort to cheap shots that prey on perceived vulnerabilities in a person's identity. It's a sh-tty way to delegitimize a person rather than the content of what they say. This strategy is even more troubling when these vulnerabilities are only vulnerabilities because of the decades and decades bigots have spent tearing open these wounds. To discredit someone by drawing on these prejudices, then, makes you no better than the genuine bigots who cause all this hurt to begin with.

It's always sad when people give me reasons to retract the respect I might have once had for them.

Can anyone dispute that it makes no sense for a transgender person to support Ted Cruz? No one has laid out a good case for that.
It makes perfect sense if you're just looking for more media attention so you can make more money without having to do anything. Caitlin should just change her last name to "Kardashian".

Again, freedom of speech says that I can say whatever I want and someone's birth name is not really a slur. Again, the ignore button is right there and you responded to my post. Click it and stop harassing me about my opinion.
You're behaving like a crybaby, ffs. Freedom of speech means the government will not prosecute you for your opinion. It does not mean you cannot be criticized for talking bullsh[inks].

Exactly.

Invisible Obama just stop, you're making a fool out of yourself.

Says the person with a socialist avatar and a Marco Rubio banner, lol. It's really not that serious to me, I'm just commenting on a message board.

Woah you really got me, somebody put that in the sulfur mine. I lost a bet if you were confused.

Don't we happen to have a thread where it is stipulated that the T ought to be divided from the LGB?
Don't know what's giving me this idea right now...

Personally, I think Cruz should thank Jenner for supporting him. Honestly, the GOP should try to change their policies and court more of the LGBT vote. What do they have to lose?

I was simply answering the question. Personally I'm willing to criticize anyone for supporting Ted Cruz, but criticizing trans people in particular for "voting against their identity" is stupid. If Jenner is a bad person for supporting a transphobic candidate, then all Cruz supporters are bad people for supporting a transphobic candidate. Not that I think either of them are bad per se, but you know what I mean.

Look, I get that she's under no obligation to be a single issue voter, that she may well support Cruz for other reasons, and that people vote against their interests all the time. But this is more than voting against one's own interests. This is the equivalent of a Jew voting for the NSDAP in Weimar Germany.
