If Cruz comes in second in Michigan or third, can he show that he could do well in Rust Belt areas in the Midwest (Ohio, Illinois)?

Illinois should be a better state for Cruz than Michigan, so I guess if he beats expectations in Michigan, you can probably expect strong numbers in Illinois.

Uh, Cruz is basically guaranteed second or (more likely) third in Michigan.
