Trump won in pretty much the same places as Scott Brown, no?

Not really, no.

OK a qualification: towns won by Scott Brown in 2010 were the strongest for Trump.

Didn't mean to imply that Boston etc. voted for Brown.

See "Boston Against Busing," there is an ugly racial undercurrent in parts of MA politics which is probably true today as well.

If that's the case, how did Obama win Massachusetts against McCain and Romney?

God damn it but stop acting like Marxists (i.e. I know the truth already, ah here's some information, see how I can make it fit perfectly the theory I already had!) ffs.

Well, Trump's best city/town was Revere, which did vote for Scott Brown.

In general, though, there isn't much of a correlation, especially in the west.

Trump didn't win the majority of voters in Massachusetts. He won a plurality of Republican primary voters.

Because his candidacy is the human embodiment of Massachusetts Call-in Radio.

More or less; here in Massachusetts, radio callers are negative about everything. Even sports call-in radio will have people talking about how the Red Sox/Celtics/Patriots/Bruins are DOOMED every single year.

lol sounds about right.  I think the basic answer here is that if you've spent any time in Massachusetts or around old white non-liberal New Englanders it makes perfect sense but that if you haven't it's hard to explain and the best you can do is watch a Ben Affleck movie.

True. And most of the liberal towns in Western Massachusetts as well. I'm not entirely sure what your point is, though.

Referring to Massachusetts migration to New Hampshire as "white flight" is absolutely absurd.

Massachusetts is on the whole not a diverse state, and for a hint which way people migrated from the city in the 1960s and later before and during busing, consider the name "South" Boston...
