In the intended context I personally don't object to it, but I get why it makes others uncomfortable.

Someone who finds that uncomfortable and yet still listens to For Today would make as much sense as some Reddit type who found ultra-politically correct SJW-style feminist stuff to be uncomfortable listening to This Ship Will Sink or Wrong Day To Quit. It's not like For Today are some Hundredth or Stretch Arm Strong-esque "Christian" band who denied the label and really just had a very positive and uplifting message with a bit of a Christian undertone.
