No. He is definitely more an Ann Coutler type. So many of his positions are obviously feigned for the sake of interestingness or getting attention. He does not appear to have any ideological convictions beyond trolling.

Truth, when I was younger I think I had the naive idea that Internet debating could be some kind of genuine Socratic method for hashing out political differences and trying to achieve some greater truth. Sadly I was quickly debased of that notion.

It can be, I've seen it with my own eyes.  Hell, I've changed position on things because of it, and I'm sure I'm not alone (really, it should be true of everybody here, and probably is).  It's just sadly very rare (and not just here, this is true internet wide, I'd argue we're actually better than average).  And to have it consistently it takes levels of moderation that this place would freak out over like a college campus after hearing that a white male student has a pair of a maracas hanging on his dorm wall.
