Sexual orientation is genetic. This will be proven beyond reasonable doubt in our lifetimes.

The Christian fundamentalists will go crazy when the scientific evidence comes to light.

Then why do gay genes continue on if gays don't have children?

Well, some do. And, again, the main argument is that it is a part of the puzzle, not the entire puzzle. It could be recessive, or triggered by some unknown environmental condition. And then there's bisexuals. Who knows?

And, even moreso, it's interesting science, but who cares? This argument has always been dumb to me. I don't see much difference between it being genetic and it happening due to environmental factors. They're that way, and to me it makes little difference why they are.

And, by the way, I would really love to learn how gays are "ruining western civilization" or whatever.

Well hopefully this is true I may decide to be pro abortion. At least for babies with this gene.
I hope you're kidding

Barely. But it would be ironic to see pro murder liberals support murdering their voting base.

it would be even more ironic to see 'pro-life' Republicans who make it their tradition to pray outside abortion clinics suddenly leap on a pedestal and demand that babies who seem genetically gay be aborted as you have done.

it would show that their love for life is really only skin-deep, as i suspect in my more cynical moments...

Go post some more of your hate America crap. You may continue on now.

what the hell does that have to do with anything?  do you usually post random comments like this when you feel under attack?

I believe that's what is called a "red herring."

Especially for the foreign posters, I can't stress this fact enough: In the United States, homosexuality is a condition/behavior that is truly despised even among self-described liberals.

Am I the only one who not only finds this comment inaccurate, but disturbing as well?

No...I find it perplexing, too. Why would I despise it? Honestly, I don't find it worth giving a damn about, which is exactly why I am so strongly against it. People are way, way too sensitive about this issue. "Oh no, they're gay! Someone might catch it!" Honestly. I don't get the whole "we're doing it for their sake" argument - just let them live with dignity. It's not like homosexuality defines someone. Sheesh.

Personally, I find it weird that homosexuality is disapproved so frequently and so publicly, yet no one seems to have problems with other types of sexual perversion such as violence fetishes. I find that much, much more threatening to "moral decency."

It's true of all the liberals I know.

With the amount of time you spend here, how many liberals are you able to meet?

Yeah, I don't see that at all.  I don't even think I know ANY liberals that view gay as bad.
Off topic: In Japan, 80% of the population view homosexuals as being a bad citizen.

Japan is very interesting to me, sociologically. I think that much of this is attributable to the family honour structure that is so essential in Japan. This structure, at least to me, emphasizes traditional "values" systems and makes cultural shifts toward acceptance of taboo subjects much more gradual. This is, I think at least in part, why the role of females in Japan is generally much more traditional than in the U.S.

All I know is that they hate Bush. Not that I talk about politics with them much, but you know, the sort of thing comes up.

This is more people I know from prior years. I spend a lot less time at school now.

This is a pretty solid group, I suppose, and I know exactly what you are talking about. There is a good group of the population (especially teenagers) who are uninterested in the political process but hate Bush because he is an authority figure, while at the same time are fairly intolerant of gays. I call them the "pissed at everything" crowd.

If that describes the people you are talking about.

One of them is a socialist.

Anyway, I didn't say they were intolerant of homosexuals, just that being gay is something dispised almost universally from what I've seen.

Well, you haven't seen much. I think a recent poll on the Atlas showed that 90% of people supported civil unions or more for gays, and only 6% considered it a disease. That doesn't seem like wide hate to me.
