In 1984, Mondale didn't win a majority in any state (his best state was MN, with 49.7%)

In 1992, Bush didn't win a majority in any state (his best state was MS, with 49.7%)

Any other major party candidates fail to win a majority in any state?

In 1912, William Howard Taft failed to win a majority in any state as well. His best states were New Hampshire (which he lost) and Utah (which he won) with 37.4% of the vote.

No idea whether Millard Fillmore 1856 is considered a major candidiate. He won MD with 45%. His only state. But 21% of the total PV.
