Republican Party

Senator Fremont is calling for tax cuts, improved relations between the police and the community, and more involvement in the Middle East, calling terrorism the new slavery. His running mate is the calm and collected Former President Gerald Ford. Also notable is his call for stricter immigration controls.

Democratic Party

Former Vice President Humphrey is calling for free tuition with two year colleges, demilitarization of the police, passing a background check rule on all counts, and continuing Obama's foreign policy. His running mate is Senator of Louisiana Huey Long, who is known for being very fiery and boisterous, but also for populism.

State's Rights Party

Finally Governors Strom Thurmond and Horatio Seymour are calling for more respect for the police, more law and order, and escalating the fight with ISIS. They do not expect to win, but merely to get concessions from either Fremont or Humphrey. They were not allowed at the debates.

Pretty sure Humphrey would win WV and OH before he wins VA and NC (at least if his support is anything like what it was during his career).

You forget how polarized against Democrats WV has become, and how friendly Virginia and North Carolina have become, especially if there's a split on the right.

As for Ohio, Fremont's a good fit, whereas Humphrey was best up by the lakes and Thurmond took some of Trump's counties.

Well yeah, but I thought it would have been fun to have a blend of the voting patterns of yesteryear and today. Tongue

FINAL RESULTS

Vice President Hubert H. Humphrey (D-MN) /Senator Huey Long (D-LA): 287 EV, 45.8% PV
Senator John C. Fremont (R-CA)/ Former President Gerald R. Ford (R-MI): 216 EV, 41.7% PV
Governor J. Strom Thurmond (SR-SC)/ Governor Horatio Seymour (SR-NY): 35 EV, 12.5% PV

In a close race, Humphrey managed with his bold ideas to defeat Fremont thanks to securing the majority of the Northeast and Senator Long's extensive campaigning in the South to wedge the campaign into the split. Ford's presence on the Fremont ticket did manage to throw the majority of the Midwest to it where native-son Humphrey should've had the advantage. However, even with New Hampshire, Maine CD-1, and the Midwest, Fremont could not shake off the early lead. Being a bad fit for the South,  Thurmond effectively took away five states for himself and gave two states to Humphrey.

Once it got to The West, Humphrey and Long were pretty much in the lead thanks to the capture of  Washington, California, and New Mexico, so that even with 4 states being close and Alaska and Hawaii's returns not in yet, only one state, Colorado was needed.

Though it was close, the state went to Humphrey, making The Happy Warrior the 45th President of the United States.
