Why does the side I'm on always have to invoke Godwin's Law?

Because not every mention of Hitler is an obscene overreaction.

Neither Putin, Assad, nor Trump are obscene overreactions to you?

Assad might be: not because he is not evil, but because Syria is not very dangerous to the world. Heaving nasty megalomaniacs leading major countries is always scary.

Because Hitler was the first nasty megalomaniac world leader, right? You seem to be proving Duke's point.

Neither the first, nor the last - and most of them left us countless corpses and suffering.

To be framed.

Somebody here is dreaming of political correctness, methinks.

There is something wrong with the comparison with Hitler.

Hitler never controlled the "Miss Universe" pageant.

I will grant you that. He was satisfied with the Olympics.

But doesn't that mean Romney is literally Hitler?

I believe Romney was attached to the Winter Olympics. Not the summer games.

These comparisons are ridiculous. Hitler always wanted to eliminate certain groups of people. TRUMP has never called for such a thing. All he wants is a secure border and legal immigration. Hitler was, of course, a good speaker as is the Donald. But many other people are, too.

His idea of registering Muslims has a very nasty ring about this.

This is a perfect picture of the nonsense that is currently backfiring against the GOP. Cry wolf because someone seeks to carve out his own message in spite of the horrible framework of the party. LOL - hey, 'Hitler comparison' alert! They'd say the same about FDR. When it's down to this and split-off third party contests? Man. If Trump pulls this off I could cross party lines for him.

There's a doctoral thesis in there somewhere.

Hey, Trump's been rigging the Miss Universe pageant for years. Was Hitler able to stop Jesse Owens? Nope.

Further proof that the Confederacy/KKK are America's version of the Nazi movement.

As if a further proof were needed.

I don't think Donald Trump is akin to Hitler. I think he's a racist, sexist pig. But, I don't think he's at a level near Hitler.

Granted, I can understand why Muslims, Hispanics, and African Americans would think so.

I really don't think it matters, since Clinton should mop the floor with him save for a massive, massive scandal.

Let us put it this way. There are a lot more reasons to hold Trump and Trumpists responsible for Auschwitz than to hold a random Muslim responsible for ISIS. And, as long as these non-gentlemen continue their demagoguery, they are mere KZ guards to me.

It's not that he wants to carve out his own message, it's what the message is.

"Give me the nomination or I'll attack you with mobs" is not a message that should ever be rewarded.

Hitler was also attached to the Winter Games.  They were held in Garmisch Partentkirchen in 1936, so Germany had a double Olympics that year. BTW, I believe they were awarded to Germany before Hitler took over.

Its a shame that more good muslims dont speak out against that extreme element.

Bingo. My Italian Catholic friends have the same opinion.

It's one thing to have Islamic extremism, but for the muslim population to sit idle in Australia, UK and the US whilst religious extremists attack us on home soil is a real issue.

Trump is saying what 75% of the population feel they are not allowed to say.

Having a discussion is the simplest part of fixing a problem.

This would make more sense were it actually true. As is, nice try.

Trump stands for all the worst impulses in people and his campaign is essentially about turning back from civilization and enlightenment and reduce us to monkeys. I get that for a lot of people a world of savagery seems appealing but one would have thought the historic record would leave some impression even on them.

Uh, at the equivalent point in his career Hitler hadn't had much of an opportunity to kill people yet, you know.

The misnamed gentleman you are talking to (his posts cause the strongest desire to vomit in me), is a proud fascist. It makes no sense to be talking to people like that: they are poisonous scum. Before long they will be requiring loyalty oaths from the rest of us as well, not merely of Muslims: as a condition for our survival. We must fight them, not talk to them.
