Why did Robert Healey get 21% of the vote in Rhode Island's 2014 gubernatorial election? I obviously think he was a great candidate, but unless the third-party candidate is someone very well-known or very connected they don't obtain votes on their own merits. Were Raimondo and Fung really that poor candidates for that year? Were Healey's voters mostly pro-union Democrats casting protest votes?

It reminds me of the AskReddit post titled "Who are you surprised isn't dead yet?"

Someone answered Harper Lee about 20 minutes before news broke of her passing.
