man utah looks 75% cruz based on people tweeting their caucus results. more and more tweets and they are all massive, hillary-mississippi level margins if not larger.

Cruz is not overcoming that kind of defect in the largest county.

So a huge win for Cruz in Utah and a comfortable win at least for Trump in Arizona look to be the most likely results.

That hurts Cruz. Likely around 15% out of that 18% would have voted Cruz had Rubio been out of the race. If Cruz loses the state by single digits, we can probably blame Rubio getting that 18% in early voting.

23% for Rubio in early voting.

I have to be frank...the early voting nonsense is pretty silly. If you liked Rubio, and voted for him 2 weeks ago, how dumb do you feel now? Why cant we all vote a day or two before the election? By allowing this crap you're encouraging people to basically throw away their votes on people who may not even be in the race come election day.

This is why early voting is a very, very bad idea in an election as things can change rapidly.

Wolf just gave the early numbers for Trump/Cruz/Kasich, but didn't mention the large number of votes for Rubio at all.

That's why I don't vote early in presidential primaries even though my early voting center is within walking distance of my office. If I had voted early, I may also have voted for Rubio.

Early voting should be done away with for primaries.  It's fine for the general election.

And that's why I'm voting on election day in California.  I won't risk voting early for Kasich, only for him to drop out before the primary here.

That said, Trump will probably win my county (CA-37) decisively.  Sigh.

It obviously won't happen here, but has a candidate ever won a state after dropping out?

Really only in primary elections. In IL they cut it down to two weeks because of some of those problems.

Dean 2004 in VT is the canonical example.

Further back, Humphrey still won a couple states without ever really running a campaign in 1976.

As does MSNBC.
