If every single person bar 12 people from Nevada picked up and moved into California in 2006, how many electoral votes would the state of Nevada have in 2008?

As only 12 people lived their would they decide the election?> would they still be allowed in the union? would they be allowed to remain as a state? would they be forced to unify with California? What would happen

It would have 1 rep, and 3 EVs.

They're already a state, so they wouldn't be forced to do anything. They'd decide who gets Nevada's 3 EVs, yes, though you can expect the closest margin in the country even if the state goes >90% for one candidate. Wink

Philip is incorrect - they would retain their electoral votes until the next Census and, indeed, 12 people would decide the election there.

I assume the 11 would be Republican ranchers upstate uninformed of the move.  Nevada would be more GOP than Utah.

Didn't see the 2008. I was just saying how the system works.

They'd obviously keep their 5 EV until the next census. All but 2 people would either be a US Senator, US House member, or a Presidential elector.

Would there be anything to prevent them from giving the governor semi-dictatoral powers?
