The fun has just begun.

http://www.wsj.com/articles/ted-cruz-gains-in-louisiana-after-loss-there-to-donald-trump-1458861959

Donald Trump beat Sen. Ted Cruz earlier this month in Louisiana’s Republican presidential primary by 3.6 percentage points, but the Texan may wind up with as many as 10 more delegates from the state than the businessman.

Mr. Cruz’s supporters also seized five of Louisiana’s six slots on the three powerful committees that will write the rules and platform at the Republican National Convention and mediate disputes over delegates’ eligibility this summer in Cleveland.

The little-noticed inside maneuvering that led to this outcome in Louisiana is another dramatic illustration of the inside game that could have an outsize influence on the bitter race for the GOP nomination. A similar process played out three weeks ago in Coweta County, Ga.

While Mr. Trump leads in winning primary and caucus elections, and has won more delegates, the Cruz campaign is proving superior at the arcane game of picking the people who will be the actual delegates to the convention, where they will help write the rules and ultimately choose the nominee.

This is exactly how Trump will have the nomination snatched from him right under his nose; it won't be the party establishment, but Lyin' Ted that will take it from him

It's not just LA, Cruz is recruiting ninjas across the country. Here is a bit from Politico about SD.

Now that I think about it, this may be the best way for Trump to go out. Have the election stolen from him via sketchy means even though he reaches the plateau. Then I can vote Hillary in the general and still have oath to Donald Trump kept in the primary. Perfect situation.

This is only going to effect the 2nd ballot at a contested convention?

That's what I'm thinking. I'm pretty sure that LA's delegates are legally bound. Not sure if they would necessary obey that though.

my understanding is that the convention could theoretically vote to unbind all delegates before the first ballot if Trump had enough delegates to win on the first ballot: although that would be incredibly unpopular and probably cause Trump to try as hard as he can to destroy whoever the Republican candidate is.

Intersting tweet from WSJ reporter, showing how outclassed Trump's campaign is vs. Cruz in this inside baseball game of delegate selection.

I disagree. Paul received more pledged delegates from MN, IA, LA, and ME than the other candidates due to exactly this kind of strategy.

This is going to do nothing but cause physical fights at the convention. Even if Cruz is able to secure the nomination through scheming, he will be very damaged going into the general.

This is awesome! I can't wait for the Republican party to literally implode in on itself as the far-right literally tears itself apart!

There's no way Hillary can or will lose now. :^D

The article from the WSJ isn't very clear but I believe like in SD they are talking about how Cruz controls more delegates in terms of committees and the second ballot but the Trump delegates are still bound for the first ballot.

Ben Ginsberg talked about this on CSPAN, noting that the rule about pledged delegates is now a 'permanent rule' and cannot be changed (this was to avoid Paul shenanigans again).

Yes, they're legally bound to vote for trump on the first ballot, which is why it's still crucial we keep him under 1,237. But they can still mess with him in other ways (by installing Cruz-favorable rules, or preventing actual trump supporters from speaking).

And, most crucially, after the first ballot they will desert trump and we will have our party back. We're going to force trump onto his knees.

This is exactly how Trump will have the nomination snatched from him right under his nose; it won't be the party establishment, but Lyin' Ted that will take it from him

Considering the party establishment is backing Cruz, there's not really much of a distinction.

This is going to do nothing but cause physical fights at the convention. Even if Cruz is able to secure the nomination through scheming, he will be very damaged going into the general.

There won't be physical fights because the trump-loyalists will be so pathetically outnumbered by real Republicans. All the people trump brought out of the woodwork to vote for him will go meekly back into the woodwork, and everyone else is going to be so afraid of the Hillary Presidency that they'll vote for Cruz with smiles on their faces.

You can write a saga about a typical trump supporter, and the last words would be, He loved Senator Cruz.
