3.9666666666

A few unusual questions there. How many people actually think sex offenders should be publicly whipped?

Someone who rapes a kid should not be publicly whipped, they should be shot in the face.

I got a 4.0

apparently I'm a liberal airhead as well.  I got 2.6

some were kinda silly.  e.g., "some day astrology will explain lots of things"  and some were right on the money:  "nowadays people mix so much that you must protect yourself from disease."  Hell, my wife won't let me near the boy after if I've been on the subway.  "Did you wash your hands?"  "I mean, with soap."  "Thoroughly."  Too true.  My wife is a serious leftist.  I'd imagine she'd get around a 4.  (This is lucky for the boy.  I hate to imagine what a family with two irresponsible parents must be like.  Advice to libertarians:  Don't marry another lassez-faire type.)

1.933...

I did not strongly agree with any of the statements. I strongly disagreed with:

"Every person should have complete faith in some supernatural power whose decisions he obeys without question." (If people want to believe in supernatural powers, they are certainly free to do so, but it would be, in my opinion, inappropriate to state that everyone should hold such belief.)

"Homosexuals are hardly better than criminals and ought to be severely punished."

"Some day it will probably be shown that astrology can explain a lot of things."

"The true American way of life is disappearing so fast that force may be necessary to preserve it." (There is no such thing as a "true" way of life.)

Then he should certainly change parties, as the Democrats are quite right wing economically - closer to him than the Republicans are socially.

Uh, Opebo, remember to use US standards, not your standards. By US standards, the Democrats are left wing, the Republicans right wing.

I never said that the Democrats were to the right of the Republicans, just that they were quite right wing economically.  I think the Democrats are in fact very close to bullmoose economically, much closer than the Republicans are to him socially.  In other words the Democrats are a better match to bullmoose overall.

You're still getting it wrong. 'left' and 'right' are relative. What to you is right-wing to me is quite left, for example.  Heck, I don't consider Bush to be right-wing on economic issues - he hasn't done a damn thing on non-defense spending (which in my book means he's a centrist). He's a social conservative and a hawk.

bullmoose is probably more of a liberal-leaning libertarian (halfway in between Jesse Ventura and John Hagelin on a sane day, maybe?) then he is a liberal (and by liberal i mean Barbara Boxer democrat).

it's not a party affiliation question.  I'm sure there are whiners in all parties.  Even among socialists and libertarians.  In fact, very little of this test is meant to connect one to a particular party.  For example, one group gets offended if you burn a flag, the other gets offended if you burn a cross, but in fact, neither are particularly fire-friendly.  Or, a more relevant example, one group accuses the other of trying to control personal aspects of a person's life (e.g., whether or not I can have a fully automatic weapon in my closet), and the other group also accuses the first group of being too controlling.  You'll make yourself mad trying to read partisan affiliation into a test that simply measures ALL CONTROL versus NO CONTROL by government, since each of the two major parties are somewhat controlling, and somewhat libertarian.

Regardless, the distance separating bullmoose from the Democrats economically is minute compared to the distance separating him from the Republicans on social issues.

Actually in my view the GOP is enormously more controlling than the Democrats.  However, you are correct that even the lesser of the two bad choices - the Democrats - are far from ideal.  I suppose that is inevitable given the monstrous electorate.

I agree with your sentiments here.  only disagree on the fine point regarding which major party is less offensive.  but yes, they're both very controlling, and into regulating what should never become government's domain.  Wherein lies sovereignty?  I say with the individual.  Which makes me a closet libertarian.  Too bad the actual LP is so far out there in terms of practical issues.
